Landlords

Landlords can support our Lets with Pets campaign in the following ways:

Going Through a Letting Agency

Please make your chosen letting agency aware of our Lets with Pets Good Practice Scheme and encourage them to sign up to become a Campaign Partner. There are many benefits for both letting agencies and landlords, such as attracting long term tenants and expanding your rental market. After all, 43% of the UK population currently own a pet.

A recent survey by Dogs Trust revealed that landlords were more inclined to accept pets than many letting agents realised. With this in mind, it's really important that you let your chosen letting agent know that you will be prepared to accept pets as soon as you register with them, otherwise you may miss out on potential tenants.

Letting Properties Yourself

If you are letting out a property yourself, please read through our Renting to Pet Owners booklet which covers a range of topics, from finding a responsible pet-owning tenant through to the next steps you need to take, such as asking for a pet reference and including a pet clause in your tenancy agreement.

If you are advertising your property on a website or through a local paper then remember to make a feature of the fact that you do accept pets. You should also advertise on websites such as www.petfriendlyrentals.co.uk who exclusively advertise pet-friendly properties.
